Lake Waramaug stands within the Lake Waramaug State Park which is located in Litchfield County. The Park is used for recreational purposes in the summer such as swimming, fishing, picnicking and boating. The Park spreads along 95 acres that were once the land of the Wyantenock tribe. The lake was named after the Indian Chief when it was purchased in 1920. The lake spreads across 680 acres of land and contains around five billion gallons of water. Many people own summer cabins on the lake and Lake Waramaug is thought to be a little community by the people that are attracted to the area.
