Located in Litchfield County in Connecticut, the river is 26 mile long that originates in Warren and runs through Roxbury, Southbury, and Washington and flows through the Housatonic River, and afterwards ends in the Long Island Sound. According to archeologist, the river has been colonized by humans during 4000 B.C. The river is established to be the primary source of drinking water for Waterbury. Shepaug means “rocky waters,” its bank is filled with ledge and rocky outcroppings. It is considered to be a natural resource for everyone that lives around the river.
